Fruit Tree Centerpiece

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe pineapple
  • 1 under ripe medium size pear
  • 2 oranges, peeled and cut in segments
  • 3 kiwis, skin left on, ends trimmed and chopped into sixths
  • 8 ounces strawberries, stems removed
  • 6 ounces blackberries
  • 1 1/2 cups red grapes
  • 1 1/2 cups green grapes
  • 1 bamboo skewer
  • Toothpicks
  • Star-shaped cookie cutter

Directions

  1. Slice off the top and bottom of the pineapple, then cut a thin slice from the top. Press the cookie cutter into the center of the slice. Set the star aside.
  2. Slice a little off the sides of the pineapple at an angle to create a cone shape. Push the skewer through the center, then skewer the pear on top. Leave the top of the skewer uncovered. It will be used to skewer the star on top later.
  3. Place the pineapple on a serving tray. Insert toothpicks around the pineapple and the pear at a slight angle. Using the larger fruit first, push the fruit onto the toothpicks, then fill in with the smaller fruits.
  4. Add the pineapple star to the top.
  5. If making ahead, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.
