Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons whole wheat or plain panko bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons fat-free milk
- 1 shallot, finely chopped (2 tablespoons)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil, snipped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 2 squares split focaccia bread or ciabatta rolls, toasted
Directions
- Combine panko, milk, shallot, mustard, basil, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Add ground turkey and mix well. Form into four 1/2 inch thick patties.
- Brush a grill pan with vegetable oil and heat over medium heat until hot. Add burgers and grill 11-13 minutes or until done (165°), turning halfway through.
- Mediterranean Topper: Grill 4 thick slices of red onion for about 8 minutes, turning once; chop. Combine onion, 3/4 cup chopped cucumber, 2/3 cup chopped tomato, 3 tablespoons chopped Kalamata olives, 2 tablespoons snipped fresh mint and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
- Avocado & Tomato Topper: Peel and mash 1 avocado. Add 2 teaspoons lime juice. Chop 1 cup tomato. Chop 1/2 cup red onion. Spoon avocado mash over burger. Top with chopped tomato and chopped onion.
