A New Paring Knife From Cutco
3499 days ago
Paring knives come in many shapes and sizes, and everyone seems to have their own preference on their favorite.
This month, Cutco introduced a new 3" Gourmet Paring Knife bringing to 4 the number of straight paring knives it now offers.
Like our other traditional straight paring knives the 3" Gourmet Paring Knife is for paring fruits and vegetables and slicing smaller foods. The distinguishing difference of this knife is its wider blade.
Choosing the design of paring knife that best suits your needs is really based on your preference for blade length and style.
The Cutco paring knife family now includes:
3" Gourmet Paring Knife – Wider blade, overall length 8-1/8"
Santoku-Style 3" Paring Knife – Sheepsfoot-style blade, overall length 8"
2-3/4" Paring Knife – Narrow blade, overall length 7-7/8"
4" Paring Knife – Narrow blade, overall length 9-1/4"
Cutco also offers a 2-3/4" Bird's Beak Paring Knife, which does have a slightly different function from the straight versions. It's designed for working with small, round fruits and vegetables and for more intricate cutting like when creating decorative garnishes.
The most important element of a paring knife, no matter what its style, is that the blade is thin enough for precision cutting so that the knife does most of the work with little hand motion.
