The Best Way to Build a Sandwich

It's sandwich season and while sandwiches seem to be pretty straight forward, the notion of how to build them led to some dissension at Cutco.

I've never given much thought about how to construct a sandwich, but it seems I have always spread the condiments directly on the bread before assembly. However, if you're like my niece Holly, who can't stand soggy bread, this might be a problem, especially if you're not going to eat the sandwich right away.

A chef friend of ours once provided this simple tip: Spread the mayonnaise on the meat itself, with a leafy green between the bread and meat to keep the bread dry. The idea is that the leafy green creates a barrier.

Not everyone agrees with this tip. In fact, it prompted a big debate at a marketing meeting here at Cutco, with some arguing that the lettuce would slide off the sandwich if the mayo were directly on the meat.

We want you to get in on the debate. Comment to tell us how you assemble your sandwiches.
