Cheeseburger Pizza

Skip to recipeIf I’m being honest, I could eat pizza most nights. I love every variety, every topping, every crust, and there is something nice about picking up pizza on your way home from work that is so satisfying. Not to mention the smell in the car! That said, pizza every night is probably not the best idea from a health perspective so when I do have pizza, I want it to be good.
While the traditional Margherita pizza will always be my favorite, I do like creating something different that plays on different flavors or dishes. Cheeseburger Pizza is the latest flavor combination we tried in the Cutco kitchen and it certainly won’t be the last. The Thousand Island salad dressing acts as the sauce and it is then piled high with ground beef, lettuce and cheese, making this a satisfying and filling dinner option.
Prepping the Ingredients
Using the 9-1/4″ French Chef, cut the onion in half and then chop.
Cut the head of lettuce in half with the 7-3/4″ Petite Slicer and remove the core. Thinly slice the lettuce so it is shredded.
Making the Pizza
Start by seasoning the ground beef with salt and pepper. Then take a large skillet, place it over medium heat and add the seasoned beef, cooking it until it is no longer pink – approximately seven to nine minutes. Make sure to break the beef into crumbles while cooking. Once cooked, drain off the fat and liquid.
For this recipe, use a prebaked pizza crust, preferably thin crust. Place it on an ungreased baking sheet and, using a Stainless Teaspoon, spread the salad dressing on the crust, leaving one half inch of crust exposed.
Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the entire crust. Sprinkle most of the cheese on top of the crust, followed by the ground beef.
Add the onion and remaining cheese over the ground beef and bake at 450 F for approximately six to eight minutes or until the cheese is melted. Remove the pizza from the oven and top with the shredded lettuce and dill pickle chips. Using the Pizza Cutter, slice the pizza into slices and serve.
We’ve added the option of serving this pizza with mustard and ketchup on the side (for a traditional cheeseburger experience) but you may find that it’s not needed. Either way, Cheeseburger Pizza is exactly what you expect it to be, the flavors of a cheeseburger in pizza form. It is just plain delicious!
