Cutco Kitchen Knife Wood Blocks are Locally Grown
3715 days ago
Cutco makes great knives, but it also makes great wood blocks. Did you know that the wood used to make our blocks is locally grown?
The wood components for Cutco's oak storage blocks come from Fitzpatrick & Weller Inc., just up the road from the Cutco factory in Western New York.
According to Fitzpatrick & Weller's sales manager, Joe Snyder, the vast majority of the wood used for Cutco's blocks is from trees grown within 100 miles of their operation in Ellicottville, New York. Approximately half of the lumber comes from small Amish saw mills in the area.
This region of the country produces some of the finest hardwood in the nation. Our wide and varied climate creates excellent soil conditions and a slow timber growth resulting in exceptional color consistency and close grain for uniform texture.
This region also yields a lot of good lumber. According to Joe, the latest U.S. Forest Service survey found that the local hardwood forests are growing 2.4 times faster than they are being harvested.
Cutco wood storage blocks keep knives safe and secure, and protect their sharp cutting edges. Always make sure your knives are clean and dry before placing them in the block. To maintain the beauty of the wood block, clean it with a damp cloth. Never immerse it in water, place in a dishwasher or spray with water.
