Cooks' Tools Care
Tips on how to keep Cutco shears, gadgets, woodblocks, trays, and flatware performing like new forever.
Sharpener Care
Woodblock & Tray Care
- Each block slot and tray slot are designed to hold specific knives. DO NOT substitute other knives. When placed appropriately, knife handles will be flush with the block. Knives placed inappropriately in blocks could protrude through the bottom of the block creating a hazard. Knives placed inappropriately in the tray could fall out creating a hazard. All knife blades should be placed blade side down in blocks and trays.
- Make sure your Cutco is clean and dry when storing in blocks and trays.
- Clean woodblocks with a damp cloth. DO NOT immerse in water, wash in the dishwasher, spray with water or use household cleaners.
- Wash trays in top rack of dishwasher. Or hand wash with warm, soapy water and air dry.
Kitchen Knife Sheath Care
- Each sheath is designed to hold specific knives. DO NOT substitute other knives. When placed appropriately you see the knife blade through the safety window.
- Dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand washing.
- Use warm, soapy water to flush out sheaths.
- Make sure sheath is completely dry before using.
- DO NOT expose to open flames or other sources of intense heat. Excessive heat can melt or burn the sheaths.
Super Shears
- To clean, open the blades and lift the top blade off.
- Dishwasher safe. However, we recommend hand washing in warm, soapy water, then drying thoroughly.
- Occasionally wipe each blade and pivot bolt with a small amount of vegetable oil to ensure opening and closing remains smooth and easy.
- DO NOT use to cut through wire.
Kitchen Tools
- Although Cutco Kitchen Tools are dishwasher safe, we recommend you carefully hand-wash your products in hot water, using a mild dishwashing liquid. Dry them after washing. Allowing items to soak in dishwater may cause staining from the mineral content in some water.
- When placing in the dishwasher:
- Lay pieces flat on the dishwasher rack.
- The tools can fall through the rack and become damaged resting on the heating element or getting caught in the washing mechanism.
- Varying dishwasher detergent formulas and water mineral content can affect the resulting shine of your utensils. If you choose to use the dishwasher, we recommend experimenting with different detergent brands, styles, rinse agents and softening additives (for harder water) to find the best combination for your dishwasher.
Gadgets
- Wash in the dishwasher or by hand in warm soapy water.
- For the Pizza Cutter: Remove the blade for easy cleaning
