Under California law, you have the right to limit the use and disclosure of your “sensitive personal information for certain purposes beyond what is necessary to provide you with the goods or services you request.

What is “Sensitive Personal Information”?

California law defines sensitive personal information as information that reveals:

  • Account log-in, debit card or credit card number in combination with required security or access code, password or credentials allowing access to an account.
  • Contents of mail, email and text messages (unless the business is the intended recipient).
  • Precise geolocation.

Does Cutco Collect Sensitive Personal Information?

No. Cutco does not collect, use or disclose sensitive personal information as defined by California law.

What Information We DO Collect

When you place an order or create an account with us, we collect:

  • Contact Information: Name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing addresses.
  • Payment Information: Credit card number (processed securely by our payment processor - we do not store full card numbers).
  • Order Information: Products purchased, order history, preferences.
  • Account Information: Username, password (encrypted), account preferences.

Your account password, while used for authentication, is not considered "sensitive personal information" under California law in the way we use it. We encrypt all passwords and never store them in plain text. We only use passwords for the necessary purpose of account authentication and security.

Approximate Location vs. Precise Geolocation

We may collect your approximate location based on your IP address to:

  • Show you relevant shipping options and costs.
  • Display appropriate pricing for your region (United States vs. Canada).

No Action Required

Since Cutco does not collect, use or disclose sensitive personal information as defined by California law, you do not need to submit a request to limit the use of sensitive personal information. This right does not apply to our data practices.
